World Press Photo Exhibition voor vijfde keer in Cacaofabriek Expo
De World Press Photo Exhibition is voor de vijfde keer te zien in de Cacaofabriek. Deze fototentoonstelling is vanaf zaterdag 18 januari te bezoeken in de expositieruimte van de Helmondse culturele hotspot. Tot en met zondag 16 februari kun je in Helmond van de beste journalistieke foto’s en documentairefotografie van over de hele wereld genieten.
Het is de 67e keer dat de World Press Photo Exhibition plaatsvindt. Deze foto-expositie toont beelden van over de hele wereld die met de actualiteit te maken hebben. De kiekjes snijden thema’s als moed, veerkracht en maatschappelijke kwesties aan.
Onderwijs
Het doel van deze expositie is om Helmonders in contact te brengen met onderwerpen die in de huidige maatschappij spelen. Ook zoekt de organisatie de samenwerking met onderwijsinstellingen op. Zo kunnen leerlingen in het basis- en voortgezet onderwijs, MBO en HBO een rondleiding volgen en opdrachten die met de expo te maken hebben uitvoeren.
Dagelijks geopend
De World Press Photo Exhibition in Helmond is gratis te bezoeken in de Cacaofabriek Expo. Je kunt de expositie op werkdagen bezoeken van 13.00 tot 18.00 uur. Op zater- en zondag is de tentoonstelling geopend van 10.00 tot 18.00 uur.

Shila was a mother of three who ran a hairdressing salon before Eritrean soldiers invaded their border town. She was kept captive and repeatedly raped for three months; her daughter, then 13, was attacked so badly she needed multiple surgeries to recover. Shila gave birth to a boy from her rapes, but her daughter – who was held separately – does not know that her mother was also attacked. Shila does not know if she will ever be strong enough to tell her daughter the truth.
